Point 33 - Flat Plan Draft


Please find above images of my flat plan draft for my website. The foreground on both of my pages will be two of my original photos. My home page will contain a menu bar, the. video itself, and informative passage about the artist and song, and a calendar showing upcoming tour dates. My second page will contain a series of unique behind the scenes content. Specifically there will be both a bloopers reel and behind the scenes montage video.

Final 3 Songs shortlist ‘Goodbye my lover’ by James Blunt James Blunt served in the Army for the six years between 1996 and 2002, and rose to the rank of Captain. He left the military to pursue his music career. He had spent his leave writing songs and released the album ‘Back to Bedlam’ in 2003, which included the single ‘Goodbye my Lover’. Since then, he has released 5 more albums, the most recent being ‘Once upon a Mind’, released in 2019. The music video for this song can be found here: James Blunt has a fairly simplistic style in his music videos, and they are often filmed in one location. A lot of his work is quite sad and dark. Point 7 - Things to Consider

Things to Consider Enigma An enigma could be incorporated into my video as there is already a sense of ambiguity within the song, and I could build on this to encourage feelings of mystery in the audience. The song leaves it open to interpretation as to whether the artist has split up from his girlfriend, or whether his girlfriend has passed away. This makes the song relatable to a wider audience, and builds an emotional connection with more people. I can lean heavily on the idea that his girlfriend has passed, while leaving out how or why she has died. This should create a sense of mystery and enigma, encouraging viewers to watch on.  Black and White vs Colour A colour wash, be it black and white or a yellow 80s esque filter would be applicable to my video to simulate an older, historic film setting. This would perhaps increase the nostalgic feeling in my video, as well as help to display a sound editing ability. Camera and editing A variety of camera angles will increase the quality

Point 9 - 'Goodbye My Lover' Audience Research

Audience Research My perfect audience member will be a version of the ‘Mainstream: Rah’ tribe (according to Channel 4’s public audience research). Gender - The audience is primarily men, as the track is narrated from a male perspective. However, women can also expect to be emotionally engaged, as the song (and subsequent video) is relatable for most people. Age - As stated in the brief, the audience will be aged 16-24. Clothing and appearance - My audience will have a fairly smart dress style, and first impressions could see them labelled as looking ‘posh’. They dress down into chinos and a shirt, and are protected by their gilets and Barbour jackets when the summer is harsh. They are not seen in public wearing trackies and a hoodie. Boat shoes or penny loafers are their go to footwear, and they wear bow ties to formal occasions; be it a wedding, funeral, or ball. They are clean shaven.
